The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ…” Ephesians 4:11-12
To serve the world outside our walls and advance the reign of God we equip our people for ministry through worship and service, prayer and pastoral care, education and Christian formation. Opportunities for ministry abound!

Acolytes A corps of teens and emerging adults who assist each week in the conduct of worship during the program year.
Altar Guild A corps group of woman and men who care for the altar, vessels, linens, candles, hangings, vestments and other items necessary for worship.
Bible Study This occurs twice a week; on Sundays it is lead by two physicians, both of whom have graduate theological educations and have made this an important and welcome ministry. On Tuesdays there is a group that meets at 1:30 pm to discuss the Revised Common Lectionary readings for the coming week. Some come early and bring a lunch.
Breakfast Ministry on Sundays after the 8:15 service is provided by members who sign up on rotating Teams. New members are welcomed and encouraged for the teams.
Buildings & Grounds A new and sizeable group who will be assessing what work needs to be done on the grounds and physical plant following our current construction, and will develop short and long terms plans for it.
Chapel Planning Team A small group that is working with the Interim Rector on a new chapel in the liturgical south transept.
Choir A group of volunteers and professionals that provides excellent music and strong support for congregational singing.
Coffee Hour Coffee Hour in Ledyard Hall is provided by Christ Church members who sign up for special occasions in their lives as anniversaries, birthdays, baptisms or just because we all like good fellowship after the service. A sign-up sheet is posted in Ledyard Hall.
Construction Committee A small, enthusiastic and weary band that has been working around the clock this year on the construction project to be completed in December.
Eucharistic Ministers and Eucharistic Visitors A well trained group that serves at the altar or in some cases carries communion to the homebound. Eucharistic Visitors are trained and scheduled by the deacon.
Finance Committee A group of modest size that develops the budget, helps to monitor expenses, and is responsible for the audit.
Garden Committee This group has been on hiatus during construction and will be recruiting new leadership.
Handbell Choir A volunteer group that serves intermittently under the direction of the Assistant to the Rector for Music.
Healing Under the leadership of a lay member with a gift for healing prayers for healing are offered each Sunday in the baptistery during the offertory, and after the service.
Knitting Ministry This group gathers monthly in homes for fellowship, provides shawls for those in need of comfort and support, and other items as needed such as caps for preemies.
Parish Activities This is a team of modest size that plans fellowship events that include trips from concerts to the theater and Mediterranean cruises.
Prayer Chain A dedicated parishioner provides leadership of this group of 40, and circulates a monthly letter and a list of special intentions as well as prayers for the world by those who pray daily.
Shepherds This is a communication chain that is activated when there is a need to communicate quickly and widely, for many this is electronic, but phone calls are made to those who request it.
Web Team The web site is under construction and is a joint effort of professionals and volunteers which we hope can be maintained by staff but we're still learning.
